Welcome to Hagi Community Services for Independence

We are a not-for-profit, charitable organization serving persons with disabilities and seniors in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.

HAGI Community Services for Independence was formed, under another name, in 1975 by persons with disabilities in Thunder Bay. Our mandate is to, “improve the quality of life for persons with a disability including seniors” by providing services that enable persons with physical disabilities to play an active role in their community.

It is our goal to provide services which allow persons with disabilities the freedom to make independent choices about their lifestyle.

We provide the following core services:

  • Barrier-Free Housing
  • Support Care Services
  • A Parallel Transit Service
  • Recreational Programs for People with Disabilities and Seniors

Our organization is recognized as a leading community service agency in Ontario. With a staff of over 150, complimented by a vast network of volunteers, HAGI Community Services for Independence serves 3,000 persons in and around the Thunder Bay area.

We are a community-based organization and 100% of our funds stay in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.

 "DOLLYWOOD BOUND"

Benefit in Honour of Leesa Roleck

Leesa was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.  She also has a condition called chiari malformation type 2.
These issues are causing the nerves in her brain to shut down which is affecting her hearing, sight, speech and her ability to swallow.
Leesa is terminally ill and her long time dream has been to meet Dolly Parton.
Dolly has arranged to meet Leesa in person at the Dollywood Park in Tennessee but it is quite costly to travel there.
Please come out and support us in raising funds to send Leesa to meet the person she calls her "guardian angel".
