Thunder Bay’s first wheelchair accessible, barrier free apartment complex.

HAGI currently has 44 rent geared to income apartments through two housing buildings. The facilities are designed to be completely barrier free, allowing tenants to make independent choices about their lifestyle. The buildings offer key accessibility features such as modified kitchens and bedrooms, widened doorways, and wheel-in showers. Additionally, each building has units with 24-hour support care provided by Community Services for Independence North West (CSINW).

How did HAGI’s housing program begin?

The HAGI housing program began in 1978 with the construction of Thunder Bay’s first wheelchair accessible, barrier-free apartment complex. A model building of it’s time, 150 Castlegreen Drive not only provided 20 accessible and affordable units, but also 24-hour staff support to the tenants living in the building.
